Fifth Grade State Fair

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Miss Ledingham's class had a State Fair.  Each student got to choose a state to study.  We made slide shows at school and projects at home.  We worked on these reports for about one month.  On the day of the State Fair everybody brought in such cool projects.  From posters and paintings to displays and models, everyone was creative in using what they had at home from sugar cubes and clay to Legos and lights.  Everyone had a BLAST!

Fifth Grade Earthquake Cakes

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Miss Ledingham's class has also been studying earthquakes.  We learned about tectonic plates and how they move and change the earth's surface.  If they move towards each other they form a mountain.  We also learned that when the plates rub against each other buildings can fall.  And if they separate a rift is created in the ground.  After we learned about what causes earthquakes we made cakes that we quaked them in four different ways.  It was very fun!!

Fifth Grade Volcano Science Project

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Miss Ledingham's class has been studying volcanoes.  There are three types of volcanoes and they are shield volcanoes, cone volcanoes and the strato/composite volcanoes.  We were sorted into 6 groups.  Two groups did the shield volcano, two did the cinder cone volcano and two did the strato volcano.  We made presentation slides and volcanoes out of clay.  Finally we went into a first grade class to present our slides and explode the volcanoes. It was really cool to see how each one exploded!

6th Grade Diamond Fork Field Trip

Submitted by angie.keisel on

On Friday, September 11, 6th grade went on a field trip to Diamond Fork Canyon.  One of the games we played was the ¨A¨ game. This was a teamwork game. There were ropes attached to a giant letter A.  We got in a circle and people grabbed the ropes and pulled the letter A up.  The object of the game was to get the water without touching the ground.
