The second grade students rotate through each teacher’s classroom learning social studies and science concepts. Only two classes so far have been rotated through. In one rotation, students learned about matter. One fact they learn is that there are three states of matter: solids, liquids and gases. In each state, the molecules act differently. They also learn that matter cannot be created or destroyed. Matter can only change their shape by different forces. Students were given materials to explore this concept. Rees Elementary was chosen to present at board meeting on Wednesday, October 7, 2015. Mr. Pitcher-principal, Camille Hill – School Community Council member, Mrs. Searle-first grade teacher and Miss Ledingham-fifth grade teacher, along with several second graders, singing our school song, were on the agenda.
The second grade students started the meeting by singing our school song:
When I am at Rees I do my very best,
On class work, homework and the rest.

I raise my hand and take my turn,
Congratulations to the students of the month! Each student was spotlighted for outstanding behavior and hard work in their classrooms. The annual PTA Fun Run was held on Friday, September 25, 2015 at Rees Elementary. It was already Team Jersey day for the Red/Green Ribbon week and having a fun run was a great way to team up together to promote healthy habits. Grades K-2 ran one lap around the neighborhood, grades 3-4 ran two laps and grades 5-6 ran three laps. Each student received a medal or bracelet as they crossed the finished line. Students who placed in the top three in each group, received a Gatorade and a new pair of socks! Everyone was served apples, granola bars and water for a yummy
