Jump Rope for Heart

Yesterday we had our annual jump-a-thon kick-off assembly.  Students were sent home with an envelope to collect donations for the American Heart Association.  Last year our school donated $8,195!  Wow!  This money goes to people with sick hearts-infants, children and adults.  Our goal this year is to reach $10,000.  We can do this with everyone’s help!

Rees African Drumming (RAD)

Submitted by angie.keisel on Mon, 04/18/2016 - 13:54

You will often hear students drumming on lunch tables, desks, and their own laps throughout the school.  This is because of Jeff Ballard.  Mr. Ballard has created and directed our very own Rees African Drumming group, also known as RAD.  He has been organizing this group for the last thirteen years!  He spends many, many hours planning, preparing and teaching drumming to students.  The beats and rhythms students play come from all around the world.  We have been so lucky to have him here at Rees giving students this musical opportunity.  Thank you Mr. Ballard!

End of Term 3 Activity - 2nd Grade

Submitted by angie.keisel on Mon, 04/18/2016 - 13:50

Second grade students gathered outside to celebrate their outstanding behavior for Term 3.  Activities students could participate in were sidewalk chalk, jump roping, hula-hooping, play on the playground or activities with the giant parachute.  Mr. Pitcher even joined in on the fun because of all the excitement the kids were showing.  Thanks for being awesome students.  Second grade is the best!

Mrs. Wiley - Classified Employee of the Year

Tracy Wiley has been a valued parent and staff member at Rees for about 10 years.  She has kept everyone well fed with her culinary talents as she has organized and cooked for faculty luncheons.  Everyone looks forward to Tracy’s main course and especially the desserts.  Her amazing food has helped create a feeling of comradery among teachers at Rees Elementary.
