Mission to Mars

On Friday, March 22, 2016 Mr. Mendenhall’s sixth grade class had a “Mission to Mars” event.  It was an even that was supposed to simulate actually landing on Mars.  The way the class simulated the Mars landing or “7 minutes of terror” was by having students create rockets out of 2 liter soda bottles that could carry an egg inside of them, be launched 200 feet in the air, plummet down, and have the egg survive.  It was a pretty good turnout for participants that day.  Quite a few kids made rockets, a lot of which actually survived.

Congratulations to Rees Elementary's 1st Debate Team!  These students have worked hard all year to prepare their speeches for Nebo School District's Debate Competition, and they did great.  Good luck to those students going to the State Debate Meet Friday!

Once again, the PTA has proven their specialized culinary skills!  They don’t only serve dinner on SEP Conference nights (that happens three times a year), but also serves us breakfast during teacher appreciation week.  They snatched their Blendtecs and Ninjas from their cupboards to whip us up some healthy green and fruit smoothies.  Yum!  Yum!

As teachers approached their classroom doors Monday morning, smiles instantly appeared.  Doors were plastered with paper in the most creative ways!  The fabulous PTA committee continued the tradition of decorating the doors to show appreciation to the faculty and staff here at Rees.  We are grateful to work at a place where they are noticed and appreciated by such wonderful parents at our school.  Thank you so much for your support!

(All doors are not pictured.  However, all doors look incredible and are very much appreciated.)

The second grade went to Harward Farms on April 1st.  Students learned different aspects of agriculture and how it provides for us each day of our lives.  It’s a perfect field trip for second graders because it ties directly into the second grade curriculum.   The first thing we learned about was where wool comes from and how it is used.  We even watched a sheep being sheared!  Some of the other things we learned about are:
