Star Wars: Revenge of the Fifth

Submitted by angie.keisel on

In our class we celebrated Star Wars day, but instead of celebrating May the Fourth we celebrated Revenge of the Fifth (Revenge of the Sith). Revenge of the Fifth was fun. There was a lot of laughter and a lot of work. First, we all did Star Wars Just Dance.  We all danced and it was fun. It was like a huge dance off. Afterwards we were all tired.  Mrs. James let us have a 30 sec break but then we went right back to dancing. Second, we did math.

End of Year Reading Carnival

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Friday was the Rees Reading Carnival.  Students had been earning tickets to spend at the carnival since January.  The amount of tickets that each student received was based on how much reading had been done at home.  Many activities and purchasing options  were available to students to participate in.  Here are a few of them:

Kid’s Marathon

May 7th was race day!   We had over 200 people representing Rees Elementary this year!  Wow!  Our goal was hit!  We’re so grateful to all parents, students and teachers for encouraging these great kids to run.  A huge thanks to Bethany Ericksen for making this event happen year after year.

*The majority of the race pictures can be found on our Facebook page.

World Explorers

For the past few months Mrs. James´ class has been working on a project called Mystery Class. Mystery Class is where you and your class participate in finding ten cities hidden all over the world. Every Friday we would get clues to where the ten places were.  It gave us sunrise and sunset times for the place and we would figure out how much daylight (photoperiod) that place got and mark it on a chart. Then we would compare it to how much light Spanish Fork had. We would have a question every time.  We also had to figure out universal time to help us find our cities.
