Christmas carols filled the gym and halls at Rees school as students performed and sang along at the annual Singing Around the Tree.  From Monday, December 19th to Wednesday, December 21st, the school joined in a celebratory assembly at the end of each day.  The Christmas tree was decorated and glowing as each grade level and the school orchestra performed their musical numbers.  The audience sang together many popular tunes like "Frosty the Snowman" and "Up On the Housetop" while they waited for the next performance. 

Students at Rees Elementary School are encouraged to read as much as they can at home.  These students know that the best way to become a great reader is to read!  In an effort to reward those students who are doing their best reading at home, the principal Mr.

All around the school, teachers and students were hanging posters, singing songs, and writing heart felt notes to the classified employees at Rees Elementary.  The school would not operate without these essential players on the Rees team.  Classified Employee Appreciation Week was celebrated from November 14th through 18th.

Two representatives from UMPA (Utah Municipal Power Agency) delivered the Think Energy presentation to Rees fifth graders on November 9, 2011.  The presentation taught students about a wide range of important issues related to energy consumption.  They taught the difference between renewable and non-renewable sources of energy.  The students were amazed to learn that over 80% of Utah's energy comes from coal, a non-renewable source.  Utah uses very little renewable resources such as wind, solar, or hydro power.

Sprinville police officer Sergeant Carter came to Rees Elementary to teach students about safety,  Kindergarten students from Mrs. Ericksen's class and second grade students from Ms. Ostler's class participated in the presentation.

On October 17, the multi-grade classes went on a field trip to Camp Maple Dell.  This was in partnership with the Boy Scout’s program called “Learning for Life”.  First of all, the fall colors were amazing!  The camp ranger said he had never seen the colors so brilliant in the past 16 years he’d been there. 

Magician Paul Brewer stopped by Rees Elementary to deliver his gut busting magic and comedy routine to the students.  Children from K-6 that had good behavior by making good choices this year attended the assembly.  Teachers and students alike were laughing and laughing at Brewer's non-stop tricks and jokes.  Some lucky students even got books and other prizes from the visitor.

October 31st was a spooky day at Rees Elementary school in Spanish Fork.  Students and teachers alike dressed up in costumes to celebrate a day of fantasy and fear.  Popular costumes this year included Transformers, Mario brothers, and super heroes like Batman.  Classic costumes such as witches, skeletons, and pirates were also represented. 

Students at Rees Elementary attended an assembly on Friday, October 14 to celebrate what they had learned from the previous two weeks during Artists in Residence.  It was an afternoon of dancing, singing, dramatic performances, storytelling, visual artworks, and an overall appreciation for Native American art and culture.  Well known artists came from miles around to teach the students in these art forms for 50 minutes each day for two weeks.  By the time the assembly came, students were eager to share the skills and knowledge they gained. 

Extra!  Extra!  Shayne Durrant, the advertising manager for the BYU student newspaper The Daily Universe, visited the fifth graders at Rees Elementary in Spanish Fork on October 6, 2011.  During his visit, Mr. Durrant explained the ins and outs of the print industry.  Students were fascinated to learn about the many aspects of putting together a newspaper and how advertising revenue was the driving force behind it all.  Mr.
