All About Quadrilaterals

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Second graders in Mrs. Keisel’s class have been exploring shapes.  It was decided that if a shape has 4 sides and 4 corners, it can be labeled as a quadrilateral.  We had fun exploring the shapes with pretzels and marshmallows.

Experimenting With Gravity

Submitted by angie.keisel on

Mrs. Spencer's class spent a science rotation learning about force, motion, and gravity with Miss Saxon.  They got to do experiments involving gravity and how objects move or fall because of it.  They saw the effect of air resistance and friction on how the objects moved.  They were surprised to learn that just the weight of the object does not affect the speed as it falls.

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Submitted by angie.keisel on

March 2nd was Dr. Seuss’ birthday!  Our school celebrated Read Across America Day by hearing from some of Spanish Fork’s community leaders- City Councilman Mike Mendenhalll, Mary Ann Eyers from Nebo Credit Union, Santa (who was headed to Hawaii), SFHS Student Body Officers, and Miss Spanish Forks Attendant Sarah Darrington.  Grade levels rotated to the different visitors and listened to a book.  We want to thank our special guests for making time to come visit us!  Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

There is something different in the air…

Submitted by angie.keisel on

I’m sure many would agree that there was something different in the air at Rees Elementary last week.  There were so many smiling faces.  Students and teachers were invited to participate in acts of kindness throughout the week to promote Kindness Week, organized by the student council.  There was hat day for being thoughtful of others, dress like a detective and do an act of service without the person knowing, working as a team (class) to do something for others, writing uplifting notes, and much more!  Thanks to the student council for reminding us HOW to be kind and h

Marble Runs in First

Submitted by angie.keisel on

First grade made marble runs for Fun Friday. It was so much fun the kids didn't even realize they were learning about things like teamwork, gravity, and inclined planes. Who knew you could have so much fun with masking tape, cardboard tubes, and a pom pom?
