Pitcher, Pitcher, Pudding n' Pie, Kissed a Pig and Made it Cry

Submitted by patty.tew on

The PTA challenged the studentbody to raise money for the school by promising to have Mr. Pitcher kiss a pig if the goal was reached.  Not only was the goal reached, but it was exceeded!  Maybe that is why Mr. Pitcher got to kiss two pigs.  Way to go students and parents, and way to be a good sport, Mr. Pitcher.  We thank our PTA officers for doing so much for us and for not making Mr. Pitcher do anything they would not do themselves!

Kindergarten Egg Drop

Submitted by patty.tew on

Before Spring Break, the Kindergartners participated in the 11th annual Humpty Dumpty Egg Drop. Families brainstormed and executed ideas for protective devices for their boiled eggs and then Mr. Pitcher put the devices to the test.  The plan was for the eggs to be dropped from the roof of the school.  Due to slippery roof consitions, the eggs were dropped from a ladder in the gym.  Some eggs cracked and others survived.  Whichever the case, it was fun to see the creative ideas that families came up with for protecting their Dumpties.

Second Grade Future Farmers

Submitted by patty.tew on

Second grade students had a great time on our Harward Farms field trip.  We learned about healthy foods, growing crops and all about farm animals.  We even got to see a sheep get a haircut!  It was a fun day for all.

Excited Kindergartners Visit Museum

Submitted by patty.tew on

February 25th was the long awaited bus ride to Bean Museum to see the newly remodeled displays. Kindergartners and an impressive number of parent/grandparent/uncle and aunt helpers explored the museum looking at animal displays.  The goal was to look at animals in order to analyze how their characteristics enable them to thrive in their habitats.  The children filled out graphs to show their findings.
