Music by Emmie Park

I am reporting from the music class.  We are starting the ukulele.  It is very interesting that you need to use the tip of your fingernail to play.  It’s interesting that at the top of the ukulele you use your left hand fingers to do C, bb, and G7.  That’s the most important part for the tune to change.

Also when the teacher starts she blows a Hawaiian trumpet made out of bamboo.  She blows it once then takes a few steps forward.  Then she blows one more time then sings a little chant and then we start class. It’s great that we have a teacher who helps us learn more about music.

We learned that the instrument that our teacher plays is very expensive.  In the old times the wood on his instrument wasn’t really rare.  But now it’s very rare. When we play our ukuleles we are also learning songs.

We got homework on what the names of our “Ohana.”  Ohana is a word in Hawaiian.  In English it means family.  I hope learn more words and learn new songs.  This is a fun and interesting class.
