From sea to shining sea, the United States of America has it all.  Students at Rees Elementary got to experience and learn about many different states at the Read Across America activity on Friday, March 2.  Each teacher and faculty member chose a state to represent.  They prepared presentations and activities that taught the students about state cultures and geography, as well as reading and literacy.

Students rotated through 6 classrooms for 20 minutes at each state.  Each group was comprised of students from a variety of grades; from 1st graders to 6th graders, the groups were led by a student group captain around the school with their iteneraries in hand.  Luckily, there were no layovers.

40 of the 50 states were represented by the school faculty.  Teachers provided activities using books, pictures, music, artifacts, and games.  The day was concluded with Read-A-Thons in each classroom.  Dr. Seuss was a very significant author for children.  Let's all keep reading!
