Rees Fourth Graders Visit Utah State Capitol

The fourth grades at Rees Elementary were able to go to the Utah State Capitol Building.  This was a great experience where students were able to go on a tour of the Capitol Building.  They were able to learn about respecting the building and showing a reverent attitude toward it and what goes on there.  Students were able to learn about the process that a bill would go through to become a law.  This is a part of the curriculum that fourth graders learn.  They were allowed to go into the actual room that our state representatives are in and sit in their seats.  Students saw the technology used as information is passed from one room to another.  Pat Painter, a representative, whose office is located at the Capitol, told us what takes place there.  He told us about the many miles of wiring that run under the floor for the computers that sit on each representative’s desk and on all the stations they sit at in the large rooms.  Students were also able to eat lunch at the Capitol.  They enjoyed the pizza, Capri sun and cookie they were given.
