Jump For Heart 2017

On April 28, 2017 Rees Elementary participated in American Heart Association’s Jump for Heart. It is our spring service project. All funds go to research on healthy hearts. This helps all kinds of people, like Mr. Mendenhall’s daughter who was born with a hole in her heart. As a celebration for a job well done we have a jump-a-thon.
On the night of May 4, sixth grade hosted a "Star wars" night. It was a great activity to complete our week of science and space studies. Students came to the school from 8:00-10:00 pm to enjoy Nachos, treats, music and a little football. When it became dark enough, students were divided into three groups and went to stations designed for real-world exploration of the night sky. Station One had students looking through telescopes at Jupiter. Station Two had students looking for and identifying constellations in the spring sky.
In Mrs. Tew’s second grade class we have been reading “Judy Moody: Mood Martian”. Today for fun Friday we decided to learn how to finger knit, just like Judy Moody. We took yarn and looped it over and under our fingers, then we pulled it over. Our third grade friends from Mrs. Darrington’s class were very helpful. It took a few tries, but we got it! In the end we had fun finger knitting our way into a good mood, but our classroom looked like a giant bowl of yarn spaghetti!
Mary Erekson is the recipient of the Outstanding Employee Award nominated by the employees at Rees Elementary. Everyone becomes a better person just knowing her! She’s kind, patient, caring, smart, and says “Hi!” to everyone she sees! Congratulations Miss Mary! You deserve this!

Students at Rees Elementary enjoyed another fun VIP lunch with Mr. Gull on Monday. Students were randomly chosen to attend the VIP lunch from the Principals 200 Board. Students get to be on the 200 board if they are nominated by a staff member for having positive behavior. We are so proud of our amazing REES EAGLES!!!
The Mission to Mars

The Mission to Mars is a wonderful adventure that we did in Mr. Mendenhall’s 6th grade class. We simulated launching an astronaut into space and landing it on Mars safely. BRACE FOR IMPACT!!! PROTECTION IS NEEDED! Everybody is counting on you.
The PTA made the teachers feel extra special each day. On Monday, teachers were greeted with decorated classroom doors. So creative! Breakfast was served on Tuesday. Wednesday was dedicated to students giving notes and gifts to their teachers. A gift was given on Thursday, and on Friday, teachers were served lunch. We appreciate the support from the PTA! We know it’s hard work and they provide so many activities throughout the year for teachers and students. Thank you so much! We are lucky to have such a wonderful PTA!

Sheep! Tomato! Bee! That’s right. Harward Farms had those and a whole bunch more! It was Farm Field Days and the second graders visited the farm on Thursday. We learned all about agriculture. Students participated in several activities to help them understand how agriculture is part of our everyday lives. They made a “living necklace”, learned about proper handwashing and the food groups, discovered Z.I.P (zinc, iron, protein) is in beef, learned about tractor safety and where the water we use in the valley comes from, what’s needed for plants
