Singing Around the Tree at Rees Elementary

Christmas carols filled the gym and halls at Rees school as students performed and sang along at the annual Singing Around the Tree.  From Monday, December 19th to Wednesday, December 21st, the school joined in a celebratory assembly at the end of each day.  The Christmas tree was decorated and glowing as each grade level and the school orchestra performed their musical numbers.  The audience sang together many popular tunes like "Frosty the Snowman" and "Up On the Housetop" while they waited for the next performance.

The student performances incorporated singing, rhythm sticks, bells, drums, recorders, violins, cellos, and even some rapping.  Everyone was impressed with the talent that the students showcased.  Of course the show concluded with the tradition of teachers performing "The Twelve Days of Christmas."  The gym was out of control as teachers threw prizes, confetti, dolls, and silly string into the audience of students.

And just in time, Santa Claus made an appearance at Rees Elementary School.  Principal Ryan Pitcher had been in correspondence with the man in red and they arranged for Santa to visit the good boys and girls at Rees. Several students sat on Santa's lap and told him what they wanted for Christmas.  Teachers and students all felt that magical feeling of the Christmas season.
