I wanted to reach out and send a follow-up email about the boundary changes that were approved last week and to re-emphasize the timing of enrollment decisions that will take place soon.
First of all, I want to reiterate to all of our Rees students and families how much we care about you and how much we have enjoyed serving you over the years. You are what makes our school so wonderful! Unfortunately, with growth comes changes to school boundaries. Although changes can be difficult, I know our students will succeed no matter what school they attend. Here is the email that was sent last week. Please note the dates for open enrollment and the link for the new boundary changes. Thank You!
"As you are aware, Nebo School District has been reviewing school boundaries in your area. This email is to let you know that the new school boundaries have been finalized. If you would like to see if your area was affected by the boundary adjustments, please feel free to click the following link: http://www.nebo.edu/schools/boundaries, or visit the Nebo School District website at http://www.nebo.edu/. If you have additional questions regarding your school boundaries, please feel free to contact your local school principal. Local school administrators were very involved in the boundary adjustment process and should be able to answer your questions.
In order to ease the transition to new schools, we have created some options for students that might benefit from them. They are:
- Students currently (2019-2020 school year) in the fourth and fifth grades that are being asked to move to a new school have an opportunity to stay at their current school if they so desire. The deadline for this opportunity is Sunday, February 23, at 5:00 p.m. If you would like to pursue that option, click the following link and complete the application: https://neboschools.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_0Nkv4isj6repmbr. While filling out the application, please make sure you mention that the boundary change affected your fourth or fifth grade student and that you would like him/her to stay at their current school. After your information is verified, your student(s) will be approved to stay at his/her current school.
- If your student is not in the fourth or fifth grade, but you would still like him/her to go to another school, we have an open enrollment option that allows students to attend their school of choice if there is room. If you would like to pursue that option please be aware that the last day to apply is Friday, February 21. In order to find the correct application, please visit http://www.nebo.edu/, click the Information tab, then click the Early Open Enrollment tab. The information you need to apply can be found at this location.
We would like to express our appreciation to all of the parents that offered ideas, concerns, and suggestions as Nebo District tries to find solutions to school populations that are growing rapidly in some areas and declining in others. Change can be difficult for some, but we believe that the school boundary adjustments we have made will help us provide a better educational experience for students."
