In an effort to promote healthy choices for our students we are excited to inform you that Run 13 has partnered again with our school for a kid’s marathon.  Over the next four months your child will be running each week towards their goal of completing a marathon (26.2 miles).  This running will take place at school with your child’s teacher supervising the running.  Over the next four months your child will set a goal to run 25 miles.  Then on Saturday, May 2 at 10:00am all student are invited to run the final 1.2 miles of our kid’s marathon in downtown Provo.  Each teacher will keep a log of the 25 miles run prior to our concluding event on May 2nd.

If you want your child to run in Provo for the final 1.2 miles the parent will be responsible for registering you child/children and transportation to the event.  Go to www.provocitymarathon.com to register.  It is a $10 registration fee which covers a race shirt, finisher medal and breakfast after the race.  There is also an option to register for $7.50 without a shirt.

The purpose of this event is to promote healthy lifestyles among our students. We want this to be a family event.  Parents are welcome and encouraged to run with their children over the next four months and at the final event in Provo.  Parents, older siblings and other relatives are able to register for the 5k or half marathon taking place on May 2nd at a discounted rate.  Please go to www.provocitymarathon.com to register.  By using code REES25 you will receive 25% off registration prices.

Students who are unable to participate in our final event on May 2 will still run with their class during school.

For more information please visit the race website listed above, or email Mrs. Ericksen (Bethany.ericksen [at] nebo.edu (Bethany[dot]ericksen[at]nebo[dot]edu)).  She is Rees Elementary’s healthy lifestyle coordinator.

As a school we are looking forward to this journey together!
