It’s All GREEK to Me!

By Jaynee Tanner

Here ye! Here ye!  The Gods of Olympus are pleased!  For the past few weeks we’ve been learning about the Ancient Greece and their beliefs.  Did you know they were polytheistic?  They believed in many gods!  We’ve also been doing projects, reading books, and even playing games to learn about this fascinating culture.

Congratulations Mr. Mendenhall!

The Nebo Education Foundation recently awarded Mr. Mendenhall with a grant to buy iPads.  He said, “This grant is allowing me to purchase four iPads for my 6th grade classroom. iPads are the BEST production tool any classroom can have. An iPad is a camera, a video camera, a mixing board, a green screen, and a production computer with all the software included! In my classroom, my students will be creating instructional videos, showcase learning, expressing their ideas all with a "real world" tool.

Fun Run and Pumpkins!!

Submitted by amy.darrington on

It was a beautiful day for a RUN!!!  Students and teachers ran a few laps today to conclude a wonderful Red/Green Ribbon Week.  At the end of the run everyone was welcomed with an awesome surprise from Mr. Gull.  Every student got their own pumpkin to take home.  We are so thankful to our awesome PTA for arranging the Red/Green ribbon week and for all the volunteers who made today successful.  We are also so proud of our Rees EAGLES for choosing to S.O.A.R this year.

Be a HERO...Don't do drugs!

Students dressed like their favorite hero got to meet with real community hereos today at Rees.  We had the privilege of having local police officers, an EMT, and firefighters come to Rees for a safety fair.  Students were able to explore the emergency vehicles and ask our community heroes questions about their jobs.  We appreciate our community heroes and ALL they do for our safety.

Monday is the beginning of Red/Green Ribbon Week.  Red Ribbon is for saying no to drugs, and Green Ribbon for safety and anti-bullying.   We encourage you to support your student in participating in these fun events and to be a part of our school spirit.  Thank you to our PTA for putting these activities together.  We love what you do for our school!

Utah Valley Chamber honors our education sponsors

Submitted by amy.darrington on

Every single day in Utah, businesses are donating time and money to benefit education.  Nebo School district is no exception.  We had the opportunity today to honor the many many business owners who generously provide time and money to our schools.  Rees Elementary chose to honor Bill Summers and Maceys grocery store for being champions of education. If you've been to Maceys, you've seen Bill.  He works side by side with his employees and is always helping meet customers needs.
